Double Trouble

I am not fond of hoppy beers, let alone an Imperial IPA.  The wife and I took a trip to a brewery on the west side of The Poopy Glove (Michigan for those of you that don’t know) called Founders Brewing Company.  We had a few beers prior to this one and I decided to let the bar tender select my next brew.  He asked if I liked hoppy beers and I told him no, but to give me whatever he had selected anyways.  My wife hates hoppy beers so he proceeded to ask if she liked grapefruit.  She does, so he brought me a pint of the brew he selected and brought her a sample glass of it.

He told us the name of the brew was Double Trouble.  I looked up at the board and noticed it was 9.4% ABV.  It took my first sip and was blown away!  I couldn’t believe what I was tasting.  It was like I had grapefruit in my mouth followed by a bit on my tongue.  My wife took a sip and could not believe it either!  After the pint was gone, I felt pretty good.  The 9.4% ABV does the body good that’s for sure.

Appearance: Amber in color, slightly cloudy, with a very tiny head

Aroma: Strong citrus aroma.  Pretty much like a grapefruit being jammed into your nose!

Taste: Ever so slightly sweet grapefruit flavor followed by a hoppy bite on the tongue.  The flavor didn’t last too long on the tongue.

Overall: Even if you hate beer, you have to try Double Trouble!
